Joni Marie Iraci
I am a retired Registered Nurse who, after raising three children, returned to college to pursue my dream of becoming a writer. I earned a BFA in liberal studies with a concentration in literature and creative writing from Sarah Lawrence and an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University before publishing my first novel, “Reinventing Jenna Rose,” in 2019/Fat Dog Books Inc. It won 4 Firebird Book Awards in 2022. A novel, “Vatican Daughter,” is complete at 78,896 words, its stand-alone sequel, “The Women of the 13th Rione” is complete at 87,282 words, and a third is in progress. My work can be found in Review Americana, Quartz Literary, and other online journals. An interview at The Strand Bookstore is available on youtube.com; as well as a podcast interview on Speak Up Talk Radio. I taught English Composition as an Adjunct Professor at a local nursing college. I worked as a freelance writer tutoring college-bound high school students with their applications and essays. I’ve edited work for friends and former classmates and hope to pursue a freelance career in editing as well as fiction writing. I reside in Naples, Florida, and New York City with my husband, my dog, and my diva cat.
