Kate Allyson Creative

Detail-oriented editor with over 5 years of editing experience. I am passionate about helping authors with autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent traits bring their stories to life in a collaborative, supportive manner.

Services include book writing coaching, manuscript evaluations, developmental editing, line editing, and proofreading. I enjoy working with authors of various genres, including nonfiction, memoir, science fiction, fantasy, literary fiction, young adult, and children’s literature.

When editing, I focus on ensuring that your book is compelling, clear, and consistent. I look at both the big picture of your book and the details that make it memorable.

For the big picture, I’m asking: How well does your story engage the reader? Are there any pieces that are missing? Or are there sections that aren’t needed, that bog your story down? Is your story in the best possible order, or could some chapters or scenes be moved?

When it comes to details, I check for consistency and clarity. Are the traits of each character consistent? Are you using terminology consistently, in a way that is clear to the reader? If you are making up names or places, are these spelled consistently throughout the book? Is each sentence clear? Is dialogue utilized well, and is it clear who is speaking?

I look forward to working with you!
