Epilogue Editing and Consulting

Hello!

I am an academic editor who works primarily with social science and humanities scholars on book projects, articles, and grant applications.

About Me

I have a PhD in political science from Rutgers University with a focus in comparative politics, and an MA in Communication Studies from Texas State University with a focus on political rhetoric (my CV is here). I earned tenure and served as department chair in the Political Science Department at Nebraska Wesleyan University, a small liberal arts school in Lincoln, Nebraska, before relocating back to Brooklyn to focus on my love of writing —both my own writing projects and making other peoples’ writing stronger.

Research – I regularly help scholars publish in top tier journals including the APSR. My own research focuses on social movements and contentious politics in the US and Europe, and I read and publish widely in journals in both political science as well as across social sciences and humanities (see publication list here). This means I can help you with your writing in a variety of disciplines and sub-disciplines in social science and humanities.

Books – I can help you navigate the academic book publishing world as well. I’ve recently worked on books under contract with University of Chicago Press, Oxford University Press, University of North Carolina Press, and Routledge, to name a few. I published my first book, The Politics of Genetically Modified Organisms in the United States and Europe, with Palgrave in 2016, and am submitting my second book proposal for my book Everyday Activism: Stories of Anti-Trump Resistance, to publishers now.

Grants and Fellowships –I regularly review applications for major grants and fellowships in the social sciences and humanities. I’ve served as a prestigious fellowship advisor, and helped people with winning applications for fellowships such as Fulbrights, Borens, and NSFs. I’ve also been the recipient of prestigious fellowships both in the United States and Europe,

Consulting and Writing – I work with writers in a one-on-one coaching capacity at various stages of their books. I also host writing workshops for universities and departments. A major focus of my scholarly work was on diversity and inclusion in political science pedagogy; I’ve worked with individuals and departments, and hosted conferences, on equity in higher education.

In addition to my scholarly writing and editing work, I write a newsletter about politics and parenting, and I’ve written reports and website copy for a variety of nonprofits. You can see an example of my most recent nonprofit work here.

What else – I am the parent to three adventurous kids who love traveling.
