Laura Dent
The Durango Wordsmith
As Durango’s professional editor and writing coach, Laura Christine Dent loves working with people to create eloquent writing.
Her diverse background includes seven years in the nonprofit sector, eleven years in education, and four years in editing, ghostwriting, and coaching at the local and national levels. She also spent a number of years guiding rivers and snowboarding, which is where she developed her knack for storytelling.
She holds a B.S. Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an M.Ed. Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing from Northern Arizona University.
She is also an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), the American Copy Editors Society (ACES), Women Writing the West, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA).
Laura is a firm believer in continuing education and continues to hone her editing skills through professional development, workshops, and editorial coaching.
