Meagan Mason

I’ve been an editor and proofreader since 2006. Most of my work now is on large reports and articles for academics, intergovernmental organizations, and communications companies that contract me out to other companies. I have a PhD in historical musicology, and about half of my clients are music-related. I also was associate editor for four years at a science journal, where I worked across a broad array of scientific disciplines.

I run side hustles in translating (French to English) and content writing. But my favorite tasks are substantive editing (for overall information flow, logic, consistency, and readability within a document), line editing (for style and tight sentence structure), copy editing (for sentence- and word-level mechanics), and proofreading (for the final check before a text goes out).

I’m happy to be part of this community, and I’d welcome anyone who wants to share tips or meet in person. In Paris, I facilitate a collective for editors, proofreaders, translators, and writers. If you’d like to be a part of it, or know someone else who would, feel free to get in touch with me.
