Michael R. Martino

Editor, writer, educator, web developer.

I have a background focused on text (specifically, digital) technologies. I have a Master of Arts (Literature) in History of Text Technologies and a Certificate in Editing and Publishing from Florida State University (2012). My studies centered around examining digital media, including its creation, transmission, reception, and affect on individuals and society. During my time at Florida State I tutored and taught writing, research, and the technical and rhetorical use of digital publication and editing technologies.

Since graduate school, I have taught writing and research and freelanced, editing dissertations, poetry, non-fiction books, novels, scripts, marketing copy, essays, technical writing, and more. At some point I slid into whackiness, writing stage plays and rock operas about pirates, psychedelic puppets, interdimensional portals, and Jeff Goldblum on ayahuasca; short stories; role playing game adventures; and other explorations of the imagination.

I am available for all types of editing (developmental, line editing, layout, etc.) or writing. Contact me if you have need of a tech-savvy editor, writer, web developer or educator with creativity and a fascination with the absurd.

I enjoy working on all different kinds of media across genres, but hey, we all have a “wheelhouse,” right? I specialize in/am most interested in working on (in no particular order):

  • Humanities-based academic writing
    • Philosophy
    • Literature
    • Linguistics
    • Music
  • Fiction
    • Fantasy, Magical Realism
    • Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction
    • Children’s literature
    • Theater
  • Poetry
  • Technology
    • Video games
    • Computer hardware and software, web development
