Michael Wolfe

Cover to Cover Co.

For the past 15 years, I’ve taught, coached, and edited writers at all levels, from junior high school students to MFA students to first-time authors to award-winning pros, and I’ve worked across multiple genres and industries, too.

At Cover to Cover Co., I work primarily as a developmental editor and writing coach, although I also do general manuscript reviews, copyediting, proofreading, book proposals and submission consulting, research, and LGBTQIA+ sensitivity reading. My clients will tell you I’m friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable.

My editorial and coaching experience includes working with writers of general fiction, literary fiction, LGBTQIA+ fiction, historical fiction, general nonfiction, memoir, biography, self-help/self-improvement, spirituality, and family histories. I also have experience in PR/Advertising as a freelance editor and content creator on multiple ADDY Award-winning public service campaigns.

Regardless of genre, industry, or scope of project, encouraging writers and making writing sing is what I do best, first by listening closely to my clients, and then by listening closely to their work. My goal always is to help writers actualize their greatest potential on the page, and I do so with a working writer’s intimate understanding of the practice and craft of writing, an ear for the inherent rhythms of language, an instinct for compelling story, and an eye for the well-placed image, comma, or detail.

I hold a BA in English from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Fiction from Texas State University, where I co-founded the program’s online literary journal and served as its inaugural fiction editor. My fiction, nonfiction, reviews, and interviews have appeared in Los Angeles Review of Books, Phoebe, Bloom, American Book Review, Southwestern American Literature, and elsewhere, and my work has been nominated for an AWP Intro Journals Award, a Pushcart Prize, and for inclusion in the Best New American Voices anthology.

I welcome inquiries from all types of writers at any stage in the writing process.
