I am a technical editor and instructional designer with over ten years of experience editing e-learning courses and other computer and web-based training. I also have experience editing business documents, including white papers, magazine articles, blog posts, course takeaways, and other supporting materials.
As an instructional designer, I have gained many skills that complement my editorial skills. I can write content to fill specific training needs. I have a unique viewpoint that allows me to manipulate content to present it in the best possible way for the learner to absorb and understand it. I also have more than fifteen years of experience building relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) and developers around the world to obtain the necessary content for clients.
One of my strongest skills is creating style guides to ensure the consistency of content. I am adept at learning and applying house style guidelines and Chicago Manual of Style, AP, APA, and MLA standards.
For many years, the focus of my work has been on helping clients produce the best final product possible for their learner or customer. As a freelance editor, I work with writers to keep their voice and goal intact and present their content clearly.
As my career moves forward, I am seeking to do more freelance editing work. I am expanding my freelance business into technical editing for knit and crochet patterns. I am also available for any business needs, such as reviewing blog posts, email, websites, and video reviews.
