Rachel Kravetz Editing
I am a developmental editor who supports academic writers in shaping their ideas into lucid prose. Through years of editing and teaching full-time as a writing professor, I trust that with thought and diligent work, a complex text will achieve clarity and engage readers. I know the challenges that come with realizing a rigorous argument: establishing a frame that compels readers to invest, creating an arc, drawing out analysis, and attending to style. I have also experienced the difference that critically supportive readers can make, not least reducing the sense of isolation that can overwhelm scholarly projects, especially if combined with the work of teaching, service, and promotion, for institutionally based academics. I work with early career scholars managing the pressures of the tenure process, as well as experienced and independent scholars seeking to ensure their writing speaks cogently to the readers they wish to reach.
