Robert Tinkle
I am a seasoned copyeditor, developmental editor, and writer with years of experience in academic editing and consulting. While my own background is in literary studies, I am happy to work with you on any nonfiction manuscript pitched to a general or specialist audience, as well as on journal/magazine articles, dissertations, grant proposals, personal statements & cover letters, curricula & textbooks, ESL editing or translation, and more.
I earned my PhD in English Literature from Johns Hopkins University, where I taught courses in the English Department and University Writing Program. In addition to acting as Senior Associate Editor for English Literary History, I worked as a writing consultant at the Johns Hopkins University Writing Center—editing essays, dissertations, shorter writing assignments, and personal statements—before taking over as Director in 2020. I was also the main copyeditor for a volume of essays published in 2022 by Cambridge UP. Most recently, I worked as a Content Developer on a major national math curriculum rollout by Pearson Virtual Schools.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel we’d be a good match for your project. I’m eager to work with you on moving your prose into print!
