Rose Fox

The Copymancer

I edit short and long fiction (primarily genre fiction) and nonfiction (primarily STEM) for publications, publishers, businesses, and individual authors.

My website has a sample contract as well as a list of my rates, examples of my editorial style, resources for writers, and testimonials from some of my many satisfied clients. I will deliver top-notch editing on time, for a fair price, with no surprises. I always offer a free manuscript evaluation for fiction, and if I don’t think I’m the best editor for your project, I’ll let you know right away.

Types of work: copy editing, proofreading, line editing, story editing, technical editing, project editing, substantive editing, critique, research, fact-checking, project management.

Types of material: books, manuscripts, short stories, novels, comics and graphic novels; news, reviews (books, movies and TV, consumer products), opinion columns, research articles, monographs, conference materials, posters, blog posts, promotional and advertising copy.

Subjects covered, fiction: science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, suspense, romance, erotica.

Subjects covered, nonfiction: writing and journalism, spelling and grammar, language and linguistics, mathematics, life sciences, ecology and the environment, technology, health and medicine, business, personal finance, sex, sexuality, gender, all LGBTQIA topics, politics and activism, parenting, crafts, visual arts, performing arts, dance, music, food and cooking, Judaism, mythology and folklore, history, geography, travel, memoir, biography.

I am queer and transgender and can knowledgeably and sensitively edit work on those topics, but I do not do sensitivity reading.

When I’m not writing and editing, I run science fiction conventions and take long city walks. I live in New York with two partners, one child, two cats, and several thousand books. My pronouns are they/them.
