Bailey Editing

As a lifelong student of the written word, nothing thrills me more than digging into a text and making an author’s hard work shine at any stage of creation. I pride myself on my ability to stay with any problem—whether it’s tricky grammar, a choppy sentence, or inconsistent pacing—until I can determine the best solution.

However, editing is more than just working with a text—it’s also about working with writers. As a writer myself, I know that the act of writing is a labor of the heart. All writers need a strong community to support their storytelling efforts, and I am truly honored when a writer chooses to make me part of their community as their editor. As I work with every text, my goal is not only to bring out the best in the piece but to encourage and support the writer by giving them resources to help them succeed outside of the editorial partnership.

I hold a degree from the University of Utah in Writing and Rhetoric and a Publishing Certificate from the University of Denver. I’ve interned with Future House Publishing, where I had the opportunity to review and edit middle grade and young adult fiction. I also served as the copy editor at Wasatch Magazine, a well-respected publication for Utah’s outdoor enthusiasts. When I am not editing, writing, or reading, I’m usually chasing around my five children, planning our next travel adventure, or walking my goldendoodle.
