Getting Work from Publishers and Quoting Project Fees

June 14th @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

In this one-hour conversation, veteran freelance editor Jennifer Lawler will share her expertise on marketing to and working with book publishers, crafting effective letters of introduction, and quoting project fees for publishers. Participants will receive templates for their personal use and are invited to submit a letter of introduction for critique prior to the meeting.

To participate, contact the Georgia chapter.

For over twenty years, Jennifer Lawler has worked as a freelance book development editor on a wide range of editorial projects for traditional book publishers, book packagers, and independent authors—everything from cookbooks to memoir to paranormal romance to thrillers. Publishers she has freelanced for include Simon & Schuster, McGraw-Hill, and Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. She has worked as an EIC of a publishing imprint, overseeing all aspects of acquisitions, editorial, and production and was previously a literary agent. She currently runs Club Ed (https://www.clubedfreelancers.com), a company that provides online education and resources for developmental editors.
