The next EFA Houston meeting will be Wed., Oct. 25, 6 to 7 p.m. Central, online (free). Repeat speaker Ruth E. Thaler-Carter will present The Challenges and Rewards of Working with Self-Publishing Authors.

About the presentation: Self-publishing authors are an increasing source of clients for freelance editors, proofreaders, and designers as more and more people feel that they have something to say to the world and don’t want to go through the lengthy process of finding agents and traditional publishing outlets for their work. This program will highlight both sides of the equation–the challenges and the rewards–and provide tips for responding to the challenges.

About the presenter: Ruth E. “I can write about anything!” ® Thaler-Carter has been a full-time freelance writer, editor, proofreader, and desktop publisher for about fifty years. She has presented in-person and online sessions about working with authors and related topics to more than a dozen organizations. She owns the An American Editor blog, Communication Central, and the A Flair for Writing publishing business, and she created and hosts Communication Central’s Be a Better Freelancer ® conference.
