Have you ever felt drained by a client who demanded your time and attention? Have you discovered too late that your personality clashes with someone you agreed to work with? Have you spent minutes, hours, or even days fretting about how a client will react, or what stunt they’ll pull next? Some freelancers say that dealing with problem clients is part of doing business—I say that allowing problem clients to take over your work life will eventually cost you your business. You’ll leave this 90-minute workshop with the tools you need to spot potential problem clients (and steer clear!), deal with common client issues professionally, and fire clients who make your freelance life miserable.

The webinar is free to all EFA members but attendance at the live session is limited to the first 225 registrants. All members will be able to download the recorded version of the webinar for free a few days after it airs.

An experienced editorial freelancer and coach, Molly McCowan is the Lead Word Nerd at Inkbot Editing, a board member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, an editing instructor with The Great Courses®, and the founder of a 500-member chapter of Shut Up & Write!, which hosts weekly writing sprints and events for authors. After experiencing severe repetitive strain injuries due to too much computer work in 2017, Molly was forced to put her career on hold in order to focus on her physical health. Reestablishing her business after such a huge setback has given her a unique approach on how to maintain a successful freelance business during troubled times, and she is passionate about sharing her best practices with other editorial professionals.
