About Carol
Carol Saller is a contributing editor to The Chicago Manual of Style. Her book The Subversive Copy Editor is about win-win strategies for editors and writers, a book Publishers Weekly called “practical, relentlessly supportive and full of ed-head laughs.” Carol is also the author of several books for children. Her middle-grade novel Eddie’s War was a Best Book of the Year at Kirkus, Bankstreet, and the Chicago Public Library, and a Horn Book Recommended Verse Narrative.
After many years of copyediting scholarly nonfiction books for the University of Chicago Press, Carol now blogs advice for fiction writers at the Chicago Manual’s Shop Talk blog in the section called Fiction+. Her goal is to help creative writers make the best use of Chicago style to prepare their work for publication and negotiate effectively with agents, editors, and copy editors.
