Editing Fiction with Sea Chapman
In November, we’ll be having Sea Chapman come talk about editing fiction.
In this talk, Sea will cover how fiction editing differs from nonfiction editing and how to approach different fiction genres. She’ll review basic aspects of storytelling and creative writing that should be scrutinized by editors during each level of editing; style guides and style sheets; and how to know when an author isn’t ready to work with an editor (and what to do in that situation). She will also cover different routes to publication and where a freelance fiction editor fits into the process of each publication option.
Sea Chapman has been working as an editor for over eleven years. She specializes in editing book-length fiction and nonfiction manuscripts. Sea enjoys collecting dictionaries, conquering her to-be-read pile, traveling far and wide, volunteering with a local meal center, and spending time with her tiny humans and little dogs.
